More water sitting in untapped reservoirs would not have been a solution to this particular fire.

"California hasn't built the new reservoirs called for in the 2014 bond measure, and they let too much water just flow into the ocean!"

Would that really have mattered for this fire? If so, how?

"There would be more water available" is not an answer. I still haven't seen evidence LA is short on water.

Would that water have been available in Pacific Palisades to keep the hydrants fully pressured when the water in the other full reservoirs wasn't? How would that have been accomplished, given the off line reservoir and power outages reportedly preventing pumps from immediately refilling the tanks that pressured the Pacific Palisades fire hydrants?

More water sitting in untapped reservoirs would not have been a solution to this particular fire, as far as I can see.

If LA runs short of water before these fires are contained, then there is a better argument that extra reservoirs would have mattered. But I don't see that the argument works at this point.
