I've been on Steem for two years now, and for the first time ever I am powering down STEEM...
...to buy more PAL!
Palnet.io and Steem-Engine are the two projects whose ideas I've been clamoring on about for years - Steem communities. Steem isn't a front-end solution, it is a back end solution, like Disqus or Wordpress. It should be easy to integrate into currently existing communities and publications as a new revenue model for so they don't have to resort to ads, sponsors, or subscription fees.
Smart Media Tokens promised this, Steem-Engine beat them to it, and now Steemit is finally starting to make visible progress on SMTs.
Time will tell which token standard will win out. Or, better yet, how they will be interoperable with each other.
But in the meantime I'm glad we have at least one already up and running, ready to interact and experiment with.
