The Jasmine

A flower family with many different species, but they all have an important similarity. They are known for their delicious sweet exotic scent. The Tuscan Jasmine, also known as the Star Jasmine, also has a very special flower shape. These flowers are all shaped like windmills.

In the summer months May to September this plant is an exotic-looking sea of flowers that also spreads a wonderful aroma throughout your garden. Because of the beauty of the flowers, this flower has also been given the nickname "Poetry Flower". And because of its wonderful scent, this flower is used as an aphrodisiac.

The Jasmine has many meanings. Brides often wear Jasmine in their wedding bouquet because the flower symbolizes Love and Happiness. In Eastern cultures, the flower has the meaning of Purity and Love. In Thailand, many taxi drivers have a wreath of Jasmine flowers hanging in their cars because the accident would avert. In addition, it naturally gives a wonderful scent in the car, and vsn this scent has been proven to have a calming and heart-reducing effect.

You can use the Jasmine to make tea. With the dried flowers you make a soothing sweet and fragrant tea. Drinking the Jasmine tea can reduce the chance of a stroke and increased cholesterol. Research has also shown that drinking Jasmine tea, in particular in women, causes an increase in metabolism, which makes this tea attractive again if you want or need to lose a few kilos. For the maximum effect, drink 2 or 3 cups per day. Do not use if you are pregnant, by the way!

Jasmine oil is one of the most expensive oils in the world. Because every flower contains so little oil that you literally need hundreds of flowers to be able to press a drop of oil.

A final advantage that I could find, and what I had already noticed, is that Jasmine attracts many insects. Now you may think that it is not an advantage, but I do think it is an advantage to have a lot of bees and butterflies in my garden. Certainly now that these insects are fighting against extinction. And what I have not been able to notice so far, but found it very special to read, is that even wild rabbits are attracted to the Jasmine. By the way, I think it would make the dogs very happy ... Lol.

When I was photographing these flowers in the garden yesterday with the Lensbaby screwed onto my Nikon D300s, I was almost enchanted by the smell. And I immediately knew why the Jasmine oil is used so often in perfumes. It is indeed an irresistibly tasty scent.

Besides the smell, it is also a beautiful sea of flowers, a real eye-catcher in your garden. Worth the effort of photography. Now that I have this Jasmine in my garden, have smelled the scent ... now I am sure I will never miss it again in the garden.
