Save the Internet with SteemSafe!

In a previous post, I asked for suggestions to name the newest Dapp to come to steem. There were a lot of good suggestions, and after checking for web domain availability, prices, and how well the name worked with the service, we've decided to go with SteemSafe!

After about a week of countless revisions, ideas, and hard work, @stuffbyspencer created that beautiful logo that will be the basis of design for the upcoming website. Big thanks to him, I can't recommend his work enough. He is a master of his craft, and did a great job even with my indecisiveness constantly hindering progress.

As for the progress of the Dapp, @firstamendment has done an amazing job and nearly finished the "guts" of the project. It's nearly a minimal viable product at this point, just needing a bit more testing to find bugs and possibly some more refinements to make things quicker. We're gonna be trying some new, untested things this week to see how it goes, and hopefully getting it to a public release soon.

Speaking of public release, I've mentioned the "guts" of the dapp are nearly done, but it doesn't look pretty. That's why we've brought @ura-soul on board to take what @stuffbyspencer and @firstamendment has done, and make it into a cohesive website that is simple, elegant, and intuitive to use. He's going to be starting his own online marketing and web design company, and is definitely a great asset to the team.

After we get this to a publicly presentable state, I will be creating an SPS proposal to fund additional features/dev work, some server costs/upgrades, and possibly marketing if all goes well. We still have a lot work in the coming weeks (and months) to make this right, but once it's done it will be an open-source, decentralized link archival service stored on the blockchain forever; the perfect use-case for Steem.

If you have any questions or ideas for features, please let me know in the comments, and keep a lookout for many more updates to come.

I'm actually really excited for this project. It has a solid use-case behind it. I've seen a few times I would have used it already. If you need any beta testers you know where to find me!

Thanks QA, I appreciate the support and enthusiasm. We'll be opening up for beta in a couple weeks hopefully.

Upvoted and re-steemed :)

Flagged because you stole my tagline without crediting and didn't mention that BLARCHIVE is now a verb.

I will never give you credit after you stole my heart.

interesting :)

You can add me to a list of interested parties and/or beta testers.

Awesome, we'll be announcing the beta in the coming weeks, stay tuned for more announcements.

Based on what I have read so far, this sounds interesting.
Is this project will be similar to the Internet Archive by any means?

Great question. This is a bit different than the wayback machine, as it's not a webcrawler. A webcrawler trawls the internet and archives every site that allows it. This is more similar to https://archive.is/ where a user submits a single URL and has it archived, and it will archive any site submitted and ignores the robots.txt.

Excellent!
More tools like this are always required. Keen to see what eventuates and when I have a moment to scratch my arse, i'll think of some ideas for features :-)
