View this post on Hive: What I like about Palnet so far, and a very few reservations...
I've moved to Hive, along with most other people, following Justin Sun's takeover of Steem in the Spring of 2020. I believe hive is a lot more decentralised than Steem!
One huge thing that no one seems to have picked up on is that the payments are 100% liquid. Yes, of course, they are 50/50 splits but 100% of your share of the reward is free to do whatever you choose with. Unlike Steem where its tied up for 13 weeks.
This liquidity is its huge advantage and even PAL you have staked is fully availablein just 4 weeks.

Thanks a lot for some much details about pal. I also can add that the support in pal is really great. When I had some questions about everything here, I just went to discord and they helped me a lot. Not only one moderator, but a few of them because I was asking questions in different time zones. I don't know such support for steem. I mean instant support, usually when I have questions, I waste more time finding answers. So, planet is for sure something great. ☺

I haven't read too much of the details so far, so I didn't know about the 10K monthly PAL those people will get amongst some other stuff in here, so thanks for sharing.
One can easily say that I've been pretty much bummed out about STEEM for a rather long time, for various reasons obviously, but PAL seems to actually solve many of those things. And even if it doesn't solve them completely, things are being done to eventually solve them by the looks of it, so I really enjoy PAL so far.
And honestly speaking, those 10K per month for the next 11 months sounds great to me. Sure, one could always wish that you would've been on the receiving end for something like that, but I have great respect for many of those users and I'm convinced that they are worth it, and that their powers will be used to empower others in the long haul. - I am pleased with everything I've seen so far, and I'll continue to enjoy the ride.

I'm happy to be hear ATM.
I only found about that +10K/ month in discord, and I did wince, however as you say these are sound people and they're hardly likely to abuse or dump the money.
But it's not going to go down too well with some!

I just learnt that in your post now. I winced too. That's quite a large airdrop. One of the reasons I loved the idea of Palnet is the more equal distribution. But is this just setting up a new upper class of whales just like Steem?

Well it is - but they're not mega whales like you see on Steem.... and they'll probably keep each other in check.

https://steem-engine.rocks/tokens/PAL/richlist?sort_field=stake&sort_order=desc
has been down for a couple of days now and https://scot.today/token/PAL has a bunch of data that’s missing (for instance I have over 10K PAL but my account isn’t even listed) so it’s hard to figure out who has how much staked PAL unless you take the time to look at individual wallets.
Minnow/Dolphin/Orca/Whale makes sense for Steem Power but may not be as applicable to PAL Power:

I guess we have to wait for things to settle down - I'm not sure I even want the 'categories' over here. I'm sure there's plenty of keen developers working on a front end to access those PAL stats, and those for other tokens!
It's nicer here than Steem, real people, reasonable people, support, abuse fighting from the outset. It's like Steem with actual ethics.

I’ve been happy with the new front end. It’s been nice to use partiko and palnet to help boost my income.

A great analysis of the platform. Thank you for doing this.
I started using PAL as soon as it came out. I feel it is a wonderful experiment, worthy of all of our input.
You highlighted the most important points. The distribution of the token will make a big difference. Plus, who does not like the stacking of rewards.
This is how wealth is going to be created on here. A lot of smaller accounts should read your words and give PALnet a try.

Hey thanks. I'm certainly happy to be here.
It's something of a fresh start and I'm looking forward to how things are going to develop.
I'll be very interested to see a version of @arcange's stats for PAL!

Yes, I like PAL so far and agree with most points. I think we need to let a bit more time pass to see how rewards pan out. I feel much happier showing PAL to prospective investors, partly because of some of the controls that are in place. I guess, though, that Steem/Steemit still needs to be sorted out HF or no, as Steem underpins PAL. Another big advantage of PAL for me is no adverts. I thought I would be fairly sanguine about them on Steemit, but actually: I don't like them :)

palnet is an interesting development. I am not sure what my PAL will be worth in the long term, but I'm doing okay so far. That can only improve if more people use it. I like it that the noise level is a lot lower than on Steemit, but I still have to check there too as not everyone is using palnet.

It's always great to see more and more options entering the #steem game. I've been doing my own research about PAL and other similar projects. PAL certainly has the edge community wise and that might be the winning factor long term speaking. Regards!

It'd be ideal if we could just onboard more users via PAL and bypass Steemit altogether!

Have some more Pal, Pal! I really like it so far and I think that the way it is set up is great. I Love the idea of a volutaryist steem interface also, just in time when Steemit decides to change things..
Thanks for this lengthly write up, it obviously took some time!

Are you sure about this? While I haven’t downvoted anything via the Palnet UI yet, all votes I have been giving drain my Steem pool.

I do have a question about self votes. Here you say that the 75/25 system makes it too profitable too self vote and 50/50 would not make it as profitable. Now I keep thinking about this and I can't find out why that would be so. If I self vote do I not get 75% in author reward plus 25% in curation reward? And if it is 50/50 do I not get 50% in author reward and 50% curation reward? Better said I get the same 100% for my vote either way. With 50/50 in Steemit I would get less but only because now Steemit will take a 10% cut from rewards. Is there something wrong with what I think?

That would only apply if you're the only person voting for yourself which is unlikely - otherwise the curation part is shared with everyone else - so everyone who votes gets a share (proportionate to their vote value) of the curation part.

But the same thing applies whether it is 75/25 or 50/50, so the question is, why would this difference of probably a small percentage stop someone from self voting?

Self voting is still the most profitable in 50-50, but I think the idea is (I got this from @clayboyn's post which i linked to above) is that with the rebalancing more people will curate other people's posts in the hope that those posts will get trended to the highest earning spot and thus curation rewards will be greater.
Add to that the bonus of having a decent content discovery system through curation and it should increase eyes on the platform and thus increase the steem price.
It is just a tweak to incentivising people away from SV, it may not be enough.
