Putting on your hip boots and wading through 4chan for data

in palnet •  5 years ago

I have been promising to write this since the Mandalay Bay shooting.

There are two ways we can look at 4chan /pol

  • It is a fountain of free speech
  • It is a cesspool of racism

And of course, we can reject Hegelian dialectic as the false-dichotony nonsense that it is, and try to define HOW to use 4chan.

4chan is a refreshing cesspool of free speech with clear fountains of informationwar disinfo!!

The basic premise of 4chan (in particular, /pol) is that it is a free speech platform. For those of you that have surfed /pol on a constant basis over the last year to year and a half may disagree, but we shall come to that.

Right now, I am trying to decide to include some of the pics that have me howling with laughter regarding 4chan. Yes, I will include them, but after we discuss what 4chan and how to use it.

4chan

I won't go into too much detail about 4chan as a whole. I think it started out as a Mongolian throat-singing discussion board, but that the, ahem, "unrestrained" nature of the board as a whole morphed out from there to discuss anime, sexual abuse of anime characters, perversion, and thus, hence, logically to politics; bringing us directly to /pol.

The reason there was so much discussion and the addition of so many sub-boards is due to free speech. The bulk of the user crowd is confrontational and insulting...ergo "bants". It is likely that a significant portion of users are young males, and that another significant portion of users are introverts in the INTJ/INTP area of the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator. One common characteristic is smartassery...

Screw it, I'm already in a different mindset than when I started this, so another alien example...
1536889960472.png

And a final example from /k, the weapons board, so I can stop laughing (7 weeks after sugery, and my guts still hurt), then I can return the train of thought to /pol...
1535876796330.png

It is this combination of young males, already at odds with mainstream sociability, and focused on their own hobbies, that leads to Gamergate, and 4chan's role in that situation. It also marks the initial conversion of the nature of 4chan as a whole from a contrarian,left-libertarian tendency to an anti-leftist tone...although it must be noted there is still a /leftypol sub-board. In any case, with the bulk of it's "membership" in this general area of thought, it was certain there would be a clash with the do-gooding, nanny-stating tendencies of the left and it's feminist front groups.

"Toxic Masculinity"

I have to laugh every time I hear this term. It is the perfect example of Cultural Marxist "goodspeak". It means nothing yet provides a means of attack on anyone who doesn't toe the narrative line.

That there would be attacks on the female prerogative itself can be seen here...
1542739534918.png

And the clashes between the "toxic males" of 4chan and the hambeats of feminist Tumblr simply marked the beginning of "raids" back and forth.
1541379693298.png

The rejection of cultural identity Narrative goes beyond conflict with the shrieking blue-hair harpies of the left, and crytallizes further in the terms "nigger" and "kike". The casual use of the words "nigger" or "faggot" as a known insult, across the board as a whole, demonstrates the average user's rejection of social norms.

But /pol takes this another step.

/pol

Even the rest of 4chan don't like /pol LOL.

A good deal of posts on /pol take the "nigger/kike" deal far past the causual insults as used on the rest of the board. Discussion of the JQ (the "Jewish Question" - or the idea that the main villian in the world is a Jewish conspiracy) and of the "subhuman" nature of black people is prominent on this board, and often soaks into threads on this board regarldess of the thread subject.

And here is where /polacks make the same mistake their detractors, who label ALL 4chan /pol users as "racist", "homophobic", "anti-semitic", blah blah blah, do.

This is the idea that a large subset of a population (perhaps the majority, perhaps not) define the population at large.

Moving past argument over the JQ or "race realism", it needs to be recognized that /pol is an area of free speech. People who have extreme views are going to use, especially when their avenues of free speech have been shut down on other places!

Secondly, the premise of free speech attracts people of all viewpoints. It is one reason I use Steemit. And it is in wading through some of the bullshit that useful data can be gathered. I put together 80% of the Wuhan data from 4chan sources, because it is not a centralized platform dominated by interets that owe things to the CCP (as of yet, see discussion below ;>)

1548602901242.png

So that's how you use it. You sift through threads looking for things to agree with, to disagree with, to verify, to file away for later debunking, to prove or disprove a point. You WILL get viewpoints, sources, and data you won't get on Zuck's Social Media ConformityBook. It's on YOU to verify. But you don't let the worst of it seep into you. OTOH, /pol has slain the leftist beast in quite a few folks...see the next section

Progression Into the UnGoodThought Side

From the first REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

To the hmmm, what IF I am wrong (yes, I understand this is rare for leftists, but it IS possible)
1532199293491.jpg

To the My ideas just don't work
1549433271375.png

To the WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD?
1532199267728.jpg

And for some, the flawed descent into the Blackpill. Not a term for the "racially aware" (and it's own wrongness), but for the cowardice and stupdity of nihilism in the face of the world's flaws.

Trolls, and Bots, and Shills...Oh MY!

4chan's emergence into an area of informationwar begins as it picks up traffic, and for the role it played in the 2016 election
1536348931643.png

Now, 4chan was ALWAYS a haven for trolls, AKA people who post controversial shit just to piss other people off. Shills have also had their play there. Disinfo is classic informationwar, and free speech platforms are prime for their use.

However, after the election, the boards in general became a focus for those who previously didn't mind incels and fat angry lesbians screeching autisitly at each other, but now was a place where election memes were made and leftist terrorists doxxed . Weaponized autism, directed at the Deep State, was now a threat. Bill Preistap's name could not even be published in a post, for example.

Other 4chan actions:

  • The harassment of Shit LaBeef and his anti-Trump flag (fwiw, I don't think the biwigs care about Shit laBeef's propaganda value as much as the capability that 4chan showed in tracking down the flag and vandalizing or stealing it)
  • locating a jihadist arty park (again, it was the capability rather than the action itself which probably caused concern)
  • The OK symbol as "racist"

This one becomes important in that it shows the gullibility of leftists and their undue influence on society. Here is the Circle Game from Malcolm in the Middle...in the year 2000...

Here is the start of the OK symbol as racist hoax started by 4chan in 2017...
1537009269508.jpg

Show me the use of the OK symbol as racist before 2017. It doesn't exist. But every liberal retard(but I am redundant in this) is now convinced this is a racist secret code. Should we note that the symbol itself has been used as early as 500 BC? If normal people weren't losing their jobs due to leftist gullibility and influence (as manifested by the SPLC], this would be funny. What 4chan did was expose this gullible leftist groupthink.

What it does instead is to demonstrate the power that can flow from /pol.

And so the thread monitor ("jannie" - janitor) problem began. 4chan changed ownership, and moderators began cleaning interesting threads, and leaving up obvious "slide" threads (a thread intended to divert intention away from more meaningful threads). The shills became more numerous. The use of unsolvable captcha popups increased. The rumor began that the board was a honeypot...versions of this theory include both the gathering of IP addresses to idenify users to the use of AI bots to develop memes and to counter memes. So, you need to read this guide to identify critical thinking raodblocks in your use of /pol:
How To Identify Trolls And Forum Spies

If you think that there is a snickering, sniggering tone to this particular post, I congratulate you on your perception. I have enjoyed my surf time on /pol, even when they were insulting ME and my own heritage.

They might be racist trolls, but they are funny racist trolls...I mean for those that are actual users, and not shills, mobys, or bots.

I was extremely impressed with the troll that led to the peepee dossier. Free speech is no joke. Wherever it is unleashed, the true power of society is also.

Thanks!

AGGGGH!

I had that down to use and forgot it! Good addition!

I haven't been on any of the chan boards in quite a while. I always viewed it as going to a garage sale. There are some incredible researchers with OCD who can get just about anything if it's anywhere online. They can really dig and find the goods. These folks will show their work as well with links or tell you where you can find it yourself. Lot's of crap and garbage too. It, to me, is like going to a garage sale. Gotta sift through the garbage to find the valuables.

I remember the days when Anonymous would post the fruits of some of their labors. Hysterical! Loved the 'I f**k my goat" themes they did to certain Twitter accounts. Those were the days.

The garage sale is a good analogy. i remember a line in a book (about intel in Vietnam) where the main character was characterized as sifting through the sewage to get the job done. That line stuck in my head
