Wood Ear vs Amber Jelly Roll | Identifying 2 Edible Mushrooms

in palnet •  5 years ago

In this video, I give a quick comparison of two similar edible mushrooms commonly found here in the southeastern US: the wood ear (Auricularia sp.) and the amber jelly roll (Exidia crenata).

These mushrooms - but especially the Auricularia - are a couple of my favorite mushrooms to find out in the woods. The wood ears really do look AND FEEL like a human ear! If you've never seen one in person before, you should head out to the forest after a good rain and find a few. They are fascinating!

Please note that I am not a mushroom expert! You should not take anything you see/hear in this video as fact; but rather use it as a guide while doing your own research.
