It might be your first if you just joined Steemit.
Steemit was promoted as:
- Better social media as facebook
- You earn for posting
- Freedom of speech.
- A place where good content is promoted.
Steemit is:
- Social media where you can not engage (talk) to other people without SP (steem power)
- You earn zero if no one notices you.
- You can post what you like and can be flagged.
- A place where communities promote good content but no one knows what it is or cares about it.
Steemit will be:
- The place where it is hardly impossible to engage unless you get help or by Steem.
- You earn less if your post does not have a vote of 20 steem or more.
- You will loose every cent if someone flags you.
- You better be carefull to whom you say what.
- You can be flagged without a reason.
- You should never vote in the first 5 minutes content is posted and you should not vote on a comment.
- Investors earn.
Which options do you have?
- Find people who help you.
- Post more, and more and more.
- Join contests.
- Power up all your earnings on post 100% instead of 50/50.
- Buy Steem and be a whale yourself.
- Leave. There are more and better places to be. Do not focus on Steemit alone.
Is Steemit the right place for writers to be?
No. This is not the place where quality content is found. You take risks posting your complete article, stories, books here. Few votes, being flagged will harm you.
Steemians generally speaking do not care about good content. Most do not like to read and will never read your story.
It is a fable Steemit cares or is promoting it. They do not. Good for them means posts with upvotes over 20 steem = more income.

Yeah the big plus from FB is you can decide posts to be private or public and who is your friend or not so it is not better it would have if they had a FB like function they do not. If you are placing a picture only they wine and can get flagged. The never ending line of what is that person doing who is that person it isn't easy with steemit almost impossible. So is steemit a FB clone? No a big no. D.tube did a better job by making a YouTube clone then steemit.
Steemit is not as holy if you think of it and it takes on another target every other month.
If you mine steem by posting and earning you are punished because you are only for earning well I mined coins and the purpose of mining coins is to spend them one time. What other purpose is there of min i ng sitting on it?
When you go to your bank and set money away on a savings account every month you want to buy a new washing machine a house or go on vacation with it one time. The reason cryptoprojects are failing is because the banksystem itself is a con banks are giving out loans of money they don't have chaining the people. Explained in this YouTube video
Zeitgeist. Money can be printed crypto not.
Too much winers on steem. You can't do this and can't do that. The top 20 witnesses rules the whole chain inclusive all the games that are created. They just buy into it with steem they get from being witness. They are the top of the piramide.
Steem searches the gold thinks of altcoins of steem not thinking oh yeah people buy that instead of steem.
Now everyone thinks hitting the jackpot button making a steemit clone and a coin.
This isn't a negative post it is realistic reaction. Only top posters get 20 dollar or more the normal posters are on like 5 dollar. So a lot more are gonna leave so the project will die.
Yeah do porn everybody dives on porn not thinking that investing in porn will lose you integrity ok it's a big business but come on that side is full off criminality. It was a dead project so people gonna buy steem and then the porn token? To do what? Hmmm yeah it's the same like if bitconnect is coming back saying well sorry for the billion dollar loss here we are again.
And yeah maybe it will skyrocket but I won't bind my name to it.

I am really annoyed. Wrote a long answer and it is gone.
So in short. I know it is not negative (your answer) it is good to know what is going on.
Most of us don't and @steemitblog did not really lighten up their users. They also tried to distract from what is really going on.
As you know I came back after hf20 and already at that time I knew it was not about fighting spam. This, hf21, is the next step in the strategy. Now the stupid fish are in the pond they are not needed any longer.
As far as I can see there are 2 options:
The witnesses?
Steemit shows an old list and you can not see the rest of them. Those left months ago are still showed. Their place should be taken by the next ones in row.
Who are the witnesses represent?
Perhaps you can answer this question:
If I choose power up 100% instead of 50/50 of my earnings... is my 100% 100% or just 50? And what if I power down? Do I have to give another 50% to?

I do not vote on comments because in most cases my vote is lost. For me and the writer unless the writer has @dustsweeper or @dustbunny to take care of the dust.
I want to reward the writer not Steemit inc/whales. Instead of rewarding the comment I go to a post and vote that instead.
Yes, that takes extra time but it is worth it.
P.s. The tips are written for newbies/small fishes and their vote is not worth much yet.

Depending on which of my comments on other posts you read first I am a little short on ideas but also really worried about steem as a really kind member left a few weeks ago due to “greed” but idk the full story but the whole situation just worries me and unsure if steem is for me and thank you for this post this has helped me understand the situation better 😀

Tell me more about not voting on comments. I have been so busy with life that I haven't followed much of what is going on. I know that I don't like the hardfork thing and that most of us are not going to do well. But what can I say... Probably forget about making any money with Steem and just look at it as where my writing community hangs out.

I think we all should let go on the idea that this is the place where you get paid and Steemit stands for good content.
All writers, your community, already discovered it is pointless to write for days and post it here.
Steemit is not the place where you can find the best writers and critics. On the contrarary.
What can we expect from this place if we are not that big fish and our post is not at least worth 20 Steem?
That you loose the biggest part if your earnings even more as 50 percent.
If dustsweepers can no longEr exist and the fight against bidbots etc goes on many will ean 0. Ofcourse you can still vote on comments but frequently the earnings here are low. So better take the time to click on the writer"s name and vote on a post.
How it all works out we have to wait and see.
It would be better to be a whale. Steemit is for investors and soon you have to pay to join and blog.
How the other sites/tribes will do if they follow in the footsteps time will tell.
There is way more going on behind the screens but if you and if you want a writer to have some benefits the steps above are the best way to handle. Small amounts of votes, voting too early,being flagged, all these earnings go into the pocket of...
