Oklahoma State Department of Health updated its reinfection data and vaccine effectiveness data on hospitalization and death! The data indicates both that vaccine immunity is better than prior infection immunity and that the vaccines are highly protective against severe disease and death, especially so for the non-elderly.
Their data shows the vaccinated were 20% less likely to get infected than the previously infected for the period from January through September 2021. The gap between the two rates converged in the final three months as protection against infection waned consistent with the guidance on third doses.
For vaccine effectiveness, they examined October-November 2021, so mostly before widespread boosters. There was a significant reduction in the risk of hospitalization and death for the vaccinated compared to the unvaccinated. VE against hospitalization was ~90% for those under 85 and ~72% for those over 85. VE against death was ~100% for those under 45, ~94% for 45-64, ~89% for 65-84, and ~74% for 85+.
