Going through some stuff had stored away. Came across this. Cant read German. Is it worth holding on to or throwing it in the garbage. Looks to be a bond.

it looks to be some sort of a ....stock.... or possible a bank deposit
it reads, on the 1 march 1928 the holder of this "paper" made an amount of 1 billion german marks ( the currency at the time )
the text is kind of small and it hurts my eyes to read up so close to the screen
it could be worth something, not really sure. it might have some sort of historical significance
they could be bank deposits after hyper inflation kicked in, the notes at the top seem to indicate some sort of a deposit

Hold on to it
It's what I believe to be a 100,000,000 mark bank note from 1929, which was a year that the economy, due to the great war (ww1), was in the gutter. That bank note would have gotten you maybe half a loaf of bread at the time, but the history of the note is priceless. Please do not discard a piece of German history; my family lived through that time period in Germany and these, while not worth much cash, are a memento of the hard times the people went through before the National Socialist Workers Party was formed.

These are bonds of the german post world war 1 goverment. As you might know germany had high inflation after they lost the first world war because they had high reperations to pay. These currency problems also lead to the rise of the nazi regime later on. These notes have only historic value at most.

A quick internet search suggests that it is a German government Treasury Bond from the Hyperinflation period of the Weimar Republic (June 1921 and January 1924, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperinflation_in_the_Weimar_Republic).
As I understand it revaluation meant that the old Marks were convertable at a rate of 1 real billion (a real billion being 1,000,000,000,000) to 1. Thus the milliard (1,000,000,000) bond you have would have been worth 1/1000 of a DM after revaluation. And since the DM was converted to the Euro at about 2 to 1 in the unlikely event that the German government would give you money for it it would appear to be worth 1/2000th of a Euro, approximately.
But there might be a dealer value to it. I found an add for an "uncancelled certificate" which suggests it might be worth a couple of hundered USD to a dealer. See: http://scripophily.net/ziscdesdereg.html
