2nd Generation 49cc Experimental Paramotor - 'Re-Source' - Eggstatic #6

in paragliding •  7 years ago

Hello All,

@eggstatic will become a chronological 're-source' for all my documented (video or otherwise) achievements in the last 10 years or so of my hobby/lifestyle activities, primarily but not exclusively related to my paragliding and/or paramotoring exploits.

Everything I post within this steemit realm will be my own original content, some of it may require the dust blowing off it ;)

My original Wordpress blog has a lot more information regarding the experimental paramotor side of things on offer for those of you with an inquisitive or inventive streak: https://eggmotor.wordpress.com/

Here we are testing the 2nd generation (using larger Helix 1.8m carbon fibre propeller instead of 80cm fan blades) 49cc 2 stroke go-ped engined paramotor (Eggmotor). I have fitted a harness at this point and you may also see the mini-nitrous oxide kit I've fitted to the air filter intake. Based on the rpm we increased by adding nitrous, we estimated thrust increase from 28kg to 37kg.

More on this particular machine will follow...

Thank you for stopping by and helping me to relive my finest moments.

Cool, did you make this design and is it open source?

Hello Bob, I'll answer your question from my primary channel. It was an ad-hoc 'on the fly' design. It's not open source but in reality it was a very poor design. I contacted Helix regarding a suitable prop for the little 2 stroke with 5:1 ratio reduction and requiring the maximum efficiency. They came back to me with their 1.8m prop, and showed me an image of an electric paramotor with the same prop. They sent me the test data to.

It wasn't cheap though, over £400 including shipping.
