There is an incredible amount of evidence suggesting we are one of many parallel universes. To what extent these universes are different is information above my pay grade.
The interesting thing about parallel Universes is that the new age genre ( which is a generic term I'm using because their knowledge is incredibly ancient) ,and science are saying yes. Two different schools of thought do agree on this one topic. For those of you who don't believe anything unless it comes from science than hold on, here it comes.

The latest theories about how our universe was/is created is called the String Theory. It is the String Theory that took it out of the realm of science fiction and into the laboratory. If I recall correctly, String Theory worked out that there should be eleven dimensions...which results in Alternate or Parallel realities.

Apparently we can switch realities like tuning in to frequencies,I don't believe Government"s would want us to know about parallel world's in the same way they hide UFO material, or anything that challenges the standard narrative, I'm thinking quantum technology is already communicating with other world's.
