Strange Real Story from Asia #2 House for Rent

Today I want to speak about a scary story that happens about six years ago to me, my wife, a friend, and his wife and our two dogs. At that time my Wife and I were owning a little hotel in Chiang Mai, north Thailand. The place was quite big with 22 rooms a big garden, a restaurant and a tour agency. The place was famous and most of the year we were full. We have some staff but we can't find the right staff for the night. So I stop my rent for my apartment and we start to live in the hotel but quickly it becomes too much of a problem to take care tourist day and night. We finally get a good guy for run the place at night and agree with one of my best friends to join him and his wife and rent a house for stay together. For a few days, we were looking for a house to rent and finally found one a few kilometer away from our hotel. We meet the landlord and decide to be back two days later to sign the rental contract. That day I wasn't able to go sign but my friend and his wife were there to sign it. I am not sure about what has happened but they didn't sign it, telling me that the landlord ask for more than a few days before. So I tell him and his wife to look for another place around it. Less than an hour later he calls me and tells me to come quickly to check a place. about half hour later I was there with my wife to check on the house.

As we arrive in the street I saw my friend and his wife waiting for us outside the house. We also bring our two dogs (dogs reactions to a place are very important, they can feel things better than human). The house from outside has nothing special it is just a town house thai style. It has a little garden in front and a little space in the back. We enter the place and start to look every room. At the entrance is a living room with a bed room next to it a little corridor with the first bathroom and a second bed room. This bed room made me feel very strange (not the bed room itself) but in the room is a window and the window opens to the kitchen in the back. When I was looking at the window I have a very strange feeling and I know right away I cannot stay in this room, why? I don't know but my feeling tells me no. Then we go to the other part of the house where is the kitchen, a bedroom, and a second bathroom. Our dogs were young at that time and they were playing next to us but the second we enter the kitchen both of them stop and look then they start walking around slowly and smelling all around. My wife and I stop in front of the sink in the kitchen and we both see the same thing but were not yet aware of what we saw. To me, I stop there because the sink was made of very old concrete like may be 50 years ago in Asia and it looks very odd, why people have to build a house and keep this old kind of sink? The bathroom also has a creepy feeling but the room was good, clean and have a new white painting.

After visiting the house we tell the lady to wait a day or two. My friend and his wife really want to rent the place right away, but I have a strange feeling about it and tell them we need to talk before. The same evening I tell my friend about my feeling and tells him there is a strong feels there that I can't explain. He tells me he had the same feel but if we make the place nice and happy the feeling will go. After speaking to my wife and also because him and his wife were very in the hurry to get a place, I say OK let's rent it. The day after we went there and sign the rental contract. My friend and his wife were so happy that they start to buy many cleaning products and start to work on it. The day later they get a bed and move in and ask me, to do so. Inside me something tells me to not and my wife also has a very odd feels about it. They spend two night there and on the third day around mid day, he calls me. He tells me I was right about this house something is not right there. Then they came to our place to tells us what is wrong there. It starts on the day they were cleaning the house, for some reason he has to go buy something and left his wife in the house cleaning. When he comes back he sees his wife outside and afraid, she was touched by something she can't see. At night the house was noisy like someone was inside. The bathroom sometimes won't open and let you in but after knocking at the door it opens. The wife of my friend was too afraid to go in some rooms alone. But what really make them move was at night, they were sleeping in the middle bedroom with the scary window, he was on the bed looking at his computer when he feel some presence starring at him, when he has turn the head, in the kitchen, behind the window he saw a woman looking at him. He ran to the kitchen and nobody was there and all doors were lock from inside.

I tell him I have a nightmare that same night about the house. So we all decide to call the landlord and ask her to cancel our contract. In Thailand, it is not uncommon to talk about those things and it is taken very seriously, every house has a spirit house outside for the spirit of the ancestor of the land to live. The landlord doesn't make us trouble and agrees to give us the money back (minus a little) if we move the day later. The next day we were all there to move the furniture of my friend. Me and my wife were shocked to see the house is not like we see it the first time the massive sink in concrete was not concrete but some beautiful tiles, also we notice the monk symbols on the door of every bed rooms, this symbol is to keep spirit outside the room. But how is it possible we not see it the first time. Also, the Buddha place in the house was facing the wrong direction. So many things that we have never seen on our first visit but we see other things. I remember when we were moving things and as he told me the worst place in the all house is the kitchen and the bathroom next to it. So we kept the furniture there until the last minute. Then we have been in the kitchen together to take the furniture in one time and move far from this place. I take my part of it and notice the bathroom door was open and he told me it's open like someone opens it. So I ask him if he has open the bathroom and he answers me no. He closes the door of the bathroom and takes his things back then we start to go out from it when suddenly behind us the door of the bathroom opens and we can hear the handle then it shut close very fast. I was full of goose bump than we walk out without even looking back. When he was loading the truck with the driver who won't enter the house, even he was not aware of the story. The woman in the house in front asks me if we were moving already. Then she told me about the place, she said the owner never take care of the spirits in this house where people have died. She says this house is very infamous in the district and peoples are afraid to go to close. Sometimes the light is on and off but no one is inside. So we fall on a haunted house or something close to it.
To resume this story, I can say never listen to other and get influenced when your own feeling tells you something. Always follow your feeling.
