What you do, do quickly

in paraphrase •  5 years ago

I don't think Jesus was talking to Judas, just like I don't think He wrote anything permanent down. He spoke in the second person often. Writers get criticized for using the second person. He wasn't looking forward to His body being broken down. He wasn't a sadist. I think He was thinking out loud. Like, Get it over with already; like Arnold Schwarzenegger facing off with predator in the first Predator 1987. Gethsemane would have been His last request to get out off the Ass Whupping. But I end with another quote: When in the way with the enemy, agree with them quickly before they call the cops, judge renders guilty verdict and you serve entire sentence with no time off for good behavior. So I say good, bad, indifferent; do what you're going to do quickly.
