Have you heard about @steemparents yet?

@steemparents is a new community/curation account helping support awesome moms and dads around the world! I created it as a way to show love to people with the most important job one can take on.

As part of a contest we are running to spread word about our new initiative, I've asked people to write a post to their followers explaining what @steemparents is. Here's mine.

I started @steemparents just a few weeks ago, and the initial reaction has been great! We now have a handful of steemians using the #steemmoms and #steemdads tags for their parenting posts, and are already providing a hub for people to make connections with other parents like themselves. Some of us are first timers, and others have been at this for a while. I myself have 2 sons, aged 4 and 2 months.

I had been looking for a group or community within steemit, and noticed curation accounts of every flavor popping up, curating everything but stories about being a parent. I decided to take it upon myself to create such a community, because one didn't exist as far as I could find.

Beyond just curating and writing about parents, we spend a good portion of the liquid earnings on this account boosting quality content using services like @randowhale and @booster. We will also be running plenty of contests and challenges, and shipping physical prizes to many steemians once the account gets built up.

We are looking for donations to increase the steempower of @steemparents, and the support we can show to loving parents. Every bit counts. I want to take this moment to thank @breakthrough for being the first to donate to our cause. Thanks, man!

We have started a Discord Chat Channel for people to come together and talk about all the good and bad moments of being responsible for another human's well being and development. Parenting can be hard, but it can be easier when you have people to talk to that understand what you're going through...

I've also talked with @firepower about getting a steemit.chat room or two set up for us as well. One for general chatting, the other being a post-promotion for parenting posts.

I love being a father. I get an overwhelming sense of accomplishment when my sons learn something new. It's better than any video game I ever spent my time playing, more fulfilling than any hobby or hustle I've ever had. I can't wait until my children grow up to become intelligent, caring members of society.
