Public Enemy number 1

Sigh... it isn't the ones that you expect! So, after battling hair lice for a little while, we've been mostly on top of it... however, we found out that the source (or at least a safe haven) for the little critters has been this little one! Fifteen eggs found and removed...

It came a bit as a surprise, as she wasn't itching at all... which is the dead giveaway for the head lice... and so we thought that the attack vector for the oldest child was from school... little did we know that there was an inside job, and that the little one had turned.

So, we dropped the nuke on her... this stuff (non-poisonous...) has such a strong smell of menthol and possibly eucalyptus, it makes your eyes water a bit when you are putting it on! Luckily, she was treated to a bit of TV whilst she was being treated... but still not looking overly happy about it!

We are getting there... after this we should be in the clear! I hope....

oh no....she is absolutely beautiful @bengy! I can't believe you have had to fight this. I thanked my lucky stars many, many times we didn't every have this problem. With kids trading toys, hats... it can happen so easily. She doesn't look to pleased about the treatment. I hope you get rid of it soooooon!

Yep, she's not so happy about being made to sit down... But there is the TV which is a good thing for her! Hopefully it is all sorted now...

Good luck with the fight! We had the same issue this summer, and never understood where they came from, as none of our friends had them...! Good you found the insider ;)

Thanks... we seem to be in the clear at the moment... but one can never be really sure about this!

awe so cute.

If I say we havent had them yet I might curse myself, so here hoping :-)

Oh wow... you are lucky... we've managed it three times this year... there are other kids in the class whose parents just don't think it is a problem and refuse to treat their kids!

I have been damn lucky, but like I said schhhhhhhhh.......or I will be jinksed

Some children easily have, some never do. Hair lice loves clean hair, you can use some hair gel or spray might help. The older they getthe less chance. Of all my kids only 2 had it they also never were itching.

I might try the spray... we spray tea tree oil in water already... perhaps we need to just encase the hair in plastic.

Simply keep combing... dead eggs you can remove with vinegar...

I hate hair lice. I never had them when I was a kid. A few weeks back, I detected hair lice on my son and few hours later, I had them too. Luckily we got rid of them quickly. I hope it never happens again, but we have to be realistic.

They are just so hard to get rid of... and it really takes a group effort from the whole class at school!

😱 don’t forget to hot wash and sun dry the crap out of all sheets and towels that have been anywhere in the vicinity of the house! Also car seat covers 🤣

Aaargh! Car seat covers! I didn't think of that!

Yeah, I use a tea tree based lotion - haven't needed it in ages, but worked at the time. Also read that any heavy oil will do as it basically drowns the critters to death - then repeat every 3 days till zero eggs left. Ended up making my own with olive oil and tea tree/eucalyptus essential oils.
