Summer break officially begun. I was out with my children. For a change, the playgrounds were full. On any other given weekday, when I would be out playing with them, it would be eerily empty. But now, the schools and daycares are closed. There were so many kids - but I admit, most of those who were there were in daycare again. In special holiday daycare, that just happened to visit public playgrounds instead of fenced private ones. But there also were other mothers with their kids. What a change!
It's so heartbraking to see that this is holiday, the opportunity to be outside and play, being restricted to two months a year. If only people made the choice to forgo their quest for much money. My children are free to play 12 months a year, on most days we're free and will venture whereever they want, and never meet anyone, because the adults are busy earning money and the kids are confined to buildings.
