Breastfeeding haters: A mom can breastfeed her child forever if she wants to

in parenting •  7 years ago  (edited)

Breastfeeding is a beautiful experience and represents one of the most important connections a mother can have with her baby/child, and I just wrote child because there is no scientific data supporting the fact that #breastfeeding has to stop after the baby is older than 6 months.

So, i still don't get why In the first few month everybody is like: "Awww that is so cute, breastfeeding is so important" and then when the baby is older than 6 months and solid foods are added into the equation, suddenly the species specific made milk becomes bad.

Out of nowhere something happens inside of the mind of people that makes them believe that an animal's milk is better for a human baby than human milk. Is like giving a puppy a cat's milk just because...

Breastmilk ALWAYS is going to be better than any other milk for humans, it is always full of nutrients, antibodies, minerals and protective living factors for a baby.

We are told that formula or other milks are fortified with DHA which is good for brain development, oh, but they forgot to tell you that breastmilk is full of HUMAN DHA which actually the baby's body can absorb and use effectively while their artificial product has Algae DHA.

So dear mommy you are being compared to a plant. A plant can give your baby more than you can. Isn't it funny?

So I will tell you something: Stop listening to breastfeeding haters even if it's your mom, a doctor, pediatrician, mother in law, best friend or even your partner. You and your baby are the only ones who should decide when to stop breastfeeding. When either one of you two decide that you no longer feel comfortable with it then you can work together to stop.

It has to be your choice not anybody else's.

I have been breastfeeding my baby for 20 months now and I plan on keeping doing it until either one of us decide to stop.

You Mom have the power, you mom can do it, you mom are right and breastfeeding is always a good option, don't doubt about yourself.

If you want to stop it's okay IF it is YOUR or your baby's choice. Go #steemmoms!!!

With love,

yes, Yes, YES! I breastfeed my little boy (he's 9 months old), and people are already putting the pressure on me to stop. Breastfeeding works for me and my child; I have food for him wherever we go, and it comforts him when he's stressed out. I hate these societal restrictions, especially when they make no sense at all. Good for you and your baby; you sound like a great mom.

Awww thank you soso much for sharing your experience! @summerskin is just as you say and more. You always have food on hand, when a baby get's sick, loses her appetite but keeps receiving breastmilk so you don't have to worry about your baby getting dehydrated or to lose weight. It is Soo amazing to breastfeed and sometimes others just don't see it.

You are a beautiful mother ! Thanks for sharing your opinion about breastfeeding. it is the best option for nurturing the child, but be aware that you eat also organic food and do not drink alcohol or smoke :)

From the CDC:

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that breastfeeding continue for at least 12 months, and thereafter for as long as mother and baby desire. The World Health Organization recommends continued breastfeeding up to 2 years of age or beyond.

You just keep doing what you're doing, and to hell with the naysayers! Thanks for sharing this with the #steemmoms tag! We'll be featuring this post in the second Motherhood Monday post, which I am writing right now!

Wow!! Thank you Soo much!!! I'm glad you liked it! ❤️❤️
