101 Golden Nursery Rhymes- A Special Album

in parenting •  6 years ago

Everyone knows that there is something special about the classic nursery rhymes that draw children to sing and dance. For both my husband and myself, those classic refrains were integral to our childhood, and it is no different for our son. He is crazy about all music, but he particularly enjoys the well known songs intended for his age group, like the Three Little Piggies, Mary Had a Little Lamb, and Humpty Dumpty (which is his favorite).

Keeping this in mind, the last time we went to the record store, we were on the hunt for an album he could enjoy, one that would be all his own. Their children’s section was skim, with a few selections of nursery rhymes. However, we did spot this little gem: 101 Golden Nursery Songs: All time Best Loved Songs. We were drawn in by the standard 1970s design of the cover, and a quick glance at the back cover revealed the LP had some of our son’s favorites on it and some that we loved from our childhoods too.

So we bought it, and I often say it’s the best four dollars I ever spent. This record lives semi-permanently on our record player. It’s kind of a big deal for our family. Performed by the Golden Orchestra and Chorus, the nursery rhymes don’t get the chance to become tiresome, because they only sing a few snippets of each of the 101 songs. They perform them in a marvelous style that makes the children’s songs less repetitive and more like listening to a fantastic orchestra.

I can’t tell you how often these renditions get stuck in my head. Our original intention of this record being for only our son has been cast aside. This record has been something truly wonderful and fun for all of us, and will continue to be for many years.
