Parents need to give their children space when they need it, but it is also the responsibility of children to look after their parents when they actually need them. I strongly feel that parents need to stay away from their married children to give them space and zero interference during the initial years of their marriage, but it is also very important that kids take care of their parents when they are in their frail health.

I have always been a stay at home mother, but my aunt needed my help in setting up her business and I obliged. It was a new experience for me to interact with people from different sections of the society. There are people of different age groups that order food from my aunt's take away counter and I am the one who handle their calls and make sure that I keep their orders ready on time.
While the you get customers don't have time and are often in a hurry, there are these senior citizens who come to the counter only to tell me their grand children's achievements and their life stories. Then there are some much older customers who are unable to get out of their homes and have no one to talk to or get them their orders. They talk to me for hours telling me how they have money but it is useless for they can't get out to spend it. They have rich kids who are all settled abroad and have no time to visit them. My hear pains for that 86 year old lady who walks with a walker and has a 92 year old bed ridden husband with her. She cannot pick the call when I call her because she walks very slowly and by the time she reaches the phone it gets disconnected automatically. I wonder what would be her condition if she needs medical attention at the middle of the night.
There is this another 89 year old uncle who calls me all the time asking if I could deliver his order to his doorstep and I would help him whenever I could. One day a man around 50 years old came to the counter and introduced himself as the son of this 89 year old man. I was relieved that this son would help his dad get his favourite food, but I was so wrong. I even told that son that this particular curry is your dad's favourite and you should take it for him and that son simply nodded his head and said, if he needs he would order himself. I was shocked for his dad recommend us to him which makes it clear that they are on good terms, then why can't he take a order for his dad.
I wonder how children can be so insensetive. But then, we cannot judge these kids on what we hear from their parents because my mother in law goes around the neighborhood telling everyone how badly we treat her when all that we try is to keep her comfortable. We need to hear both side of the story to pass a judgement right ?
