The Kruger National Park, in northeastern South Africa, is one of Africa’s largest game reserves. Wild animals includes the Big 5: lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffalo's. Mountains, bush plains and tropical forests are all part of the landscape. Many travelers choose to visit during the dry winter months (Apr–Sep), when animals are easier to spot, especially at waterholes. At this time of year, days are warm and nights are cool, sometimes colder. Nov–Feb weather is hot and balmy, and rainfall is common. Migratory birds and wildflowers are more common during this period, but foliage is denser.
