Speaking My Mind 9 - Wants Vs Needs

in partiko •  5 years ago

I have gone through life with the "programs" I learned from others. Basically we all have been programmed since we were born. Since the first breath we took into this thing we called life. We have been programmed through our parents, friends, TV and in many other ways.

One of the programs we have been installed into our computer called a brain is we always need something more to be happy. We always want a new car, new clothes, a new computer or something different. But, in reality, how much of this we truly need? I believe we have caught ourselves in a never-ending loop of WANTS instead of the REAL NEEDS.

Always Wanting More Trap

No matter how much you buy, we always want something more. We are basically slaves to our WANTS. What do you really need in this life to be happy? It is my personal opinion if we have food to eat and bed to sleep in every day we are blessed. If we are healthy and well you are blessed more than we can ever imagine.

It is my personal opinion that until we realize less is truly more we can truly be happy. Because more also brings a worry of losing. More houses, cars, boats bring a worry of paying the mortgage, insurance, maintenance and all the other stuff we worry about to keep those things in our lives. It is a never-ending loop.

And, then you come to the end of your life realizing you have spent your life chasing things instead of enjoying what you had in the first place. You realize you have caught yourself in a loop that never really ends until you realize all you need is a roof over your head, a warm bed, some food, and maybe someone who shares this life with you. Life is simple but we tend to make it too complicated. At least that is my humble opinion on this subject.

"LESS IS MORE"

Health is particularly undervalued. Many people prefer to sit on the sofa watching a big new flatscreen TV than to look after their health. Or to ruin their health and relationships by working long hours in order to pay for more stuff. It's such an easy trap to fall into.

Yes, it is. I could not agree more. And, yes, it is a very easy trap to fall into. One need attracts another and it goes in circles. Until you break the cycle. And, all of us have the power to do it thank God. :)

Amazing content.

Thank you. :)
