Ten Thousand Steem Power

10K Steem Power Surpassed

There's now over 10K SP powered up in Crypticat's Steem account! Much of it was purchased and transferred here; the rest was earned the old fashioned way. The majority of my Steem Power is delegated out, mainly to the highest bidder. If you're looking for a decent return you have to treat this like a business and there is much more to Steem than just blogging.

What started out just for fun has become a minor obsession. Since Steem accumulates rather slowly, it's best to give yourself a liquid injection of Steem if you want to reach 10k SP anytime soon. Sure there are contests, games and sponsored content creation which can help you earn Steem but you have to factor in your time. Do what you enjoy the most in your freetime and earn the returns. I can work a few hours and buy hundreds of Steem pay so it's not really worth blogging on a topic I don't care about for a chance to win a small prize.

Delegating Steem for profit is the best way to earn Steem in a passive way. You can basically be a bank by lending it out to the highest bidder. You can pull the delegation at anytime so it's a safe way of doing business and can be quite profitable. My average delegation is paying over 20% APR😸 I literally just check the market periodically and lend to the highest bidder. You can also delegate to bots but I've mostly stopped doing this.

Selling votes is another way to earn Steem in a passive way but be careful, you don't want to sell votes to someone you disagree with or would downvote. I find many of the vote selling services don't care who they sell to. When I delegate and upvote I use discretion, checking the accounts to ensure I'm not supporting bad actors.

10k SP puts me at position 1440 according to https://steemitboard.com/ranking/?p=57&s=vests&hl=crypticat which still makes me feel like a small cat in a large forest. Don't know what my next SP target is but I do want to reach 1000 followers soon, so let me know if there is anyone out there worth becoming friends with 🐱

I hope to have 10000 SP one day. I only have 1 SP right now. Oh how I can dream.

I'll double that for you!

Congratulations on reaching 10000 SP, that is a lot. You are a big dolphin now.

DD double dolphin!

Congrts @crypticat on the big 10k SP double dolphin, I think your ranking is HUGE if you consider how many accounts have been created which is was over a million right now.

Thanks Simon. It is big,, the problem with 1 million accounts is how many are socks. People should be making tickets to pass on to their friends and families but I'm sure most just hoard them thinking someday they will be worth a lot.

Congrats on reaching this milestone!
My milestone for this year will be 5K. Still need to do some work to reach this!
Cheers,
Peter

All it takes is a little luck. Remeber to power up some of those winnings before a streak ends.

I for sure will! No doubt about it. Learned the hard lesson many moons ago :)

Congratulations to have reached that milestone.

Thanks, I'm not really aiming for anything else. From here it's all organic growth.

Interesting 20% I guess that’s working for some people ? Must be.. I appreciate you’re using discretion, not sure what you’d call a bad actor, but if I were paying off a delegation I’d. be inclined to self vote.

Anyway, I’d anticipate these rates will change if and when curation goes to 50% ? Seems like a good way to build a middle class especially if some large stake holders would generously delegate some sp for free for a month.

Bottom lines tend to deter generosity and goodwill though. Selling votes is kind of the lowest of the low imho and not doing much of anything to build a community or anything positive in the big picture..

Hi Skramatters,

Some people need Steem and are willing to pay 20% for it, I guess they really plan on being active. Nothing is wrong with self voting in my opinion unless you are upvoting your own comments. A Spam post is a Spam post with or without a self upvote.

Bad actors are people who steal other people's work, there are a few accounts that just post a stolen photo, say where they stole it from as if it's okay and bid it up. This is not right. Nor is a thoughtless post of a few words with a self upvote. Upvoting your own comments is weak too. There are also things people promote such as antivaxing or other conspiracy theororists that I won't delegate too because I fundamentally disagree with them.

I don't think selling votes is bad if you have a white list. For Steem to have economic value there has to be supply and demand. Look into OCDb by Acidyo, they have a strong community and an excellent whitelist. Most of my large payouts are because I buy votes off them, I also delegate so people can buy my votes.

It's economics, as long as you aren't promoting things that can hurt people such as not getting a vaccination, hatred, or unrestricted gun ownership I don't care what you do.

Edit: wanted to say HF21 should remove a lot of the benefits of buying and selling votes as they are probably increasing curation rewards to 50%. By buying upvotes you are really just helping those who curate.

Thanks for the response, i tend to agree with self voting being ok so long as the post is something you can be proud of and/or would vote if someone else created similar content.

Generally speaking it’s done in the bad acting way as a means to guarantee the best ROI available. Definitely, not a big deal for small fry like myself but I still don’t do it out of some sense of honour or something lol.

When I see it being done by people who complain about serial self voters I get a bit irked . especially on posts that are about abuse and our peculiar incentives system.

I am however not bothered by occasional casual posting, I don’t think every post needs to fit some idealistic vision of quality. It’s ok to just share something whimsical or satirical with a one liner or two at times. I’d rather see that than a forced 1000 words regurgitating generic concepts.

Am a fan of the STEM stuff and hope to keep the conspiracy stuff on the rest of the internet where it’s pervasive.

Different strokes though I suppose.

Don't get me wrong, I don't care what people post and love freedom. I just won't upvote things I disagree with. Hopefully with the changes comming up it will make it more difficult to bump trash up to the front page. Not that it shouldn't exist just that it shouldn't be the first thing people see when they come here as it is off putting to most.

Totally agree

Yea I’m whitelisted and aware of ocdb and think that’s great. I’m fine doing my own thing in hopes of establishing some rapport with people.

I am sure if I get to have that 10,000sp in NY account, I will hold a celebration

I should have a thousandth follower giveaway. 10k Steem isn't an accomplishment worthy of a celebration.

Nevertheless, it is still an achievement

Congrats! :3

Thanks!

If I may ask, where do you delegate your sp?

Mostly on minnowbooster to the highest bidder, I always check the accounts first to make sure I'm not supporting absolute garbage

A belated congratulations on reaching your milestone @crypticat! Well done! It will probably take me a long time — to "forever" — to reach such a level, as I am pretty much just a "social butterfly" who creates blog posts. The closest thing to anything "businesslike" I have going is owning a fair number of @steembasicincome shares.
