Crooks' hollow
Upper Canada became a haven for United Empire loyalists, escaping the United States. They made their way from Niagara to the western end of Lake Ontario, where they had been granted land by King George III of England.
Many settlers were attracted by the water of the Spencer Creek.
Two of the early families coming here were the Mordens and the Crooks.
There is a trail along which you can see some ruins of early homes and barns, sawmills.
