Cointelegraph, citing an email posting on Reddit believed to be from the Shift team, reported that Shift Card- the first US Bitcoin debit card launched by crypto exchange Coinbase- will be withdrawn on 11 April 2019.
According to Cointelegraph, industry analysts were not optimistic that Shift Card will attract enough users to sustain operations when it launched in November 2015, as users are required to own Bitcoin in order to pay for the $20 card registration fee.
The email post on Reddit did not state the reason for shutting down operations for Shift Card, and stated that the card can be used till the date of deactivation.
