Book of Orbs: The Bitcoin Counterparty collectibles mobile wallet

in partiko •  6 years ago  (edited)

The Book of Orbs mobile wallet enables users to collect, and use, cryptocollectibles based on bitcoins counterparty protocol.

The counterparty protocol allows for limited quantity subtokens stored on the bitcoin blockchain in the same fashion as ethereum tokens.
This means we can have the same kind of cryptocollectibles as those flourishing on the ethereum protocol.
In the Book of Orbs mobile wallet, one of my favorite collections is the user-created CrystalsCraft collection maintained by the company behind one of the first mobile games to use blockchain elements, Spells of Genesis.

As you can see, I own a copy of neeearly every card in the CrystalsCraft collection, and 150 copies of the one I created myself, Patchwork.

(I just put another 20 copies of Patchwork on sale again, if anyone is interested ;) )
my favorite cards in the Crystal craft collection come from one of our own steemit users, @joechiappetta, an artist with a simply wonderful style and wit to his pieces !

and his very latest piece, not even 3 days old, Cryptoruffians! !

the Crystal craft collection is kinda my thing now hehe

I still miss the very first card, a Demo card of the collection, as well as the bitsupreme card. hopefully I can get my hands on those too!!

The very first card I got in the collection was SWINGO'S NICEWINGLIZ card.

and that was also the card that motivated me to try my hand at designing my own card :)

a separate collection of cryptocollectibles with a much more polished style is Age of Chains.

they've got a much grander feel to them, each card being extremely high quality.

They require XCP, the main counterparty currency, to buy though, and I don't have any. so I went and got one of the 50 limited edition Whooper physical bitcoin storage cards with the very first card in the Age of Chains collection on it

The private key is hidden behind the scratchcard field you see above, with the public address being displayed for all to see.

I hope you liked this quick overview of the Book of Orbs and CrystalsCraft collection :)

first person to comment their counterparty enabled bitcoin address gets a copy of my Patchwork card and 15 BCY (about the amount you can win in the weekly bitcrystals telegram channel quiz ;) )

Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold

Interesting cryptocollectibles! Thanks for sharing... I feel like I am in the middle age... this is my first time to see those, LOL!

This is the most epic Book of Orbs post ever. I love it, and I am not just saying so because you highlighted my work too. Great job in covering a fantastic application for crypto-art. I never knew about that Age of Chains card with the physical BTC device. That looks really cool. And thanks for hosting this contest for your really awesome card. It is a masterpiece. There, had some problems getting the BCY to send yesterday but now the 15 BCY and the copy of Patchwork are on the way :)

Thanks so much! It is a great card and I received it with gratitude.

No problemo. Happy you like it 😄

Gotta think about making a new card for the collection soon.
Got my first full salary (1600€ yay) and as soon as I'm home from holiday here in Denmark I'm getting a new computer, so hopefully I'll be able to do some proper high Def and generative stuff by installing a local version of the algorithm I've been using up till now 😄

Well I look forward to seeing those new works from you. FYI I just used BCY Asset Creator for the first time and the process was fairly smooth to issue new pieces of rare digital art. You should try it too if you haven't already.

I was one of the beta testers (cryptodragons) and they paid me enough BCY for me to make that first card with a 200 piece limited edition without outside funds XD

I remember them talking about removing the fees, did they do that or does it still cost BCY to issue the token ?
