God created the human being, saying “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness...” This statement calls upon us to participate in our own creation (to make ourselves). God created humanity; but, in humanity, each individual is called to create themselves. To create oneself is the sublime vocation of the every human being... Man, the human being, is called to cooperate with God’s work, and to complete himself, by perfecting himself through the act of his liberty (by his own free-will) and this liberty makes the human being master of himself and of the universe.
