Pursuing your Passion Isn't Always Pretty.
I myself had the belief for a long time that all I needed to do was figure out what I love to do and just do it – that this was the golden key to living happily ever after.
It’s not about finding what we are passionate about; as a matter of fact trying to find it can be the very thing that stops you, which I talk about at the end of the video.
Some of the talking points I delve into:
The true work is the inner work, not the outer doing. All the things we bump up against once we start embarking on the journey of pursuing our passion.
We might do what we love and still feel like it is not good enough, we are not good enough, not moving fast enough, not making enough, don’t know enough….
This is the part inside of us that wants to protect us from pain, Based on our history of painful experiences we have made
In Shadow Work we refer to this part as our Risk Manager, the part of our ego that wants us to stay who we are in order to stay safe
Unfortunately in our adult life this protective part in us often causes self sabotage. By protecting us it causes us the exact thing it wants to avoid: Pain
It can go far and beyond to stop us, even cause anxiety attacks – listen to my personal experience on that
What’s important is to know that these struggles are part of the journey. We might even want to go so far and say that if you don’t experience major struggles you are not doing it right, you are not really going for what you truly desire, you are not looking deep enough, so to speak
As you may remember from childhood, growing, no matter if physically or mentally (such as studying a subject you want to learn) can cause aches
It’s like the chicken that needs to struggle its way out of the egg only to discover there is an entire new world waiting for it
Also consider, those of us who choose to follow our own path go against the grain. Instead of following a nicely laid out, well maintained and pretty straight pathway we go out into the wild jungle – the jungle of our own inner being
As we go into this wild jungle we create and cut through our very own path. It’s dark, unexplored and therefore can be very scary
But instead of letting the unknown and the challenges scare you away I encourage you to change your perception around them. See them as exciting opportunities to grow, learn and experience something that is completely new
This is why you have even chosen this path, because you want to grow, because you want to discover the massive potential inside of you, that is becoming too big to hold within, that is screaming to come out – it’s the treasure that is also hidden within your inner jungle

Have you noticed anything that you repeatedly run into or struggle with? What is it?
I am looking forward to hearing from you and steer up a conversation. This is about community supporting each other and I will be responding to each and every one of your comments personally and with loving attention.
