Password hacks

in passwords •  8 years ago

Well, if you have started reading this post hoping to find a way to hack some passwords, you will be disappointed. However, this post is about something totally different. It’s about a real life issue that we face and it relates to the most important keys which allows us to enter different rooms of internet palace - Passwords.

Have you ever clicked on the link – Forgot Password? that is present almost always on all the websites that we use. Do you keep common password for different websites that you visit? Have anyone ever stolen your password and used it against you? Are your passwords not strong enough?

If answer to any of these questions is yes, then please read this post and I am sure you will find it helpful.

It’s a common fact that we all forget our passwords. Here, I am not talking about your internet banking passwords or passwords to use a mobile wallet or steemit password. The best way to keep these passwords is offline. I am here talking about passwords that we use for different websites that we don’t regularly use; but we use it frequent enough to click every time on – Forgot Password?

This post is about a trick that will allow you to remember passwords for different websites without actually remembering it. Passwords for different websites will all be different and strong at the same time. Interested? Please read ahead.

The Trick:

Form your password from the name of the website for which you are forming it. Jumble alphabets of the name of the website in specific sequence that you only know. Add a special character and a number.

I am sure this way you will be able to have a different password for all different websites and you will remember it without actually remembering it.

Let’s look at some of the examples:

Trick 1

no jumbling of website name, add $, add number equal to number of alphabets in the name of the website

Using this trick passwords for websites would be as follows:

  • Facebook.com > facebook$8
  • Yahoo.com > yahoo$5
  • Cybrary.com > cybrary$7

Probably you think it is better than having a common password for all websites, it is still very simple for someone to crack if they know one password for any one site. Yes, that’s true. Please read trick 2.

Trick 2

jumble alphabets as 2-1,4-3,6-5,… , add # at the end, add number equal to number of alphabets in the name of the website + 3

Using this trick passwords for websites would be as follows:

  • Facebook.com > afecobko#11
  • Yahoo.com > ayoho#8 (for odd number of alphabets in name)
  • Cybrary.com > ycrbray#10

Yes. Now we have truly random passwords. Its not simple. Its not easily decipherable as in the first case. However, if someone finds out the logic, they can still crack all.  Lets solve this problem by a simple trick 3.

Trick 3

jumble alphabets as 2-1,a,4-3,a,6-5,a… , add @ at the end, add number equal to number of alphabets in the name of the website + 100

Using this trick passwords for websites would be as follows:

  • Facebook.com > afaecaobakoa@108
  • Yahoo.com > ayaohaoa#105 (for odd number of alphabets in name)
  • Cybrary.com > ycarbaraay#107

Here, if someone finds the logic, they will still be able crack it. But the fact is it is not easy to find the logic, if logic is even slightly intelligent.

Randomness of the passwords is limited only by ones imagination and one can derive a simple, yet powerful formula, to generate seemingly complex and different passwords for different websites.

Well, passwords become complex but not easy to forget. And we save time by clicking 'Forgot Password?' less and less. By the time some tech company comes up with solution for login without passwords, this can serve us well.
