The Desires of a President
There are patients who change your life and from the first moment they enter your office you realize the incredible little people they are. There are days of many new patients, other days of recurrent patients but always when someone goes outside the norm you realize that children have an essence that we should all maintain, even in adulthood.
Juan Lucas came to the office with his mother and sister, three super special people recently arrived in Costa Rica from the land of Vallenato, who if they know a little bit about me, is where my alma mater is located that I have so much love for. This is the story of Juan Lucas, that of his sister we will tell at another time.
From that first day Juan Lucas won my heart since he was very happy to be with us and expressed it in every sentence he told us, we enjoyed the consultation very much. When Juan Lucas returned he went to continue his treatment, and that day he almost had tears when he realized that he was not going to see us for six months and he told us that he would miss us.
Those six months became shorter than expected, since last week his sister had a consultation and he came to accompany her. He gave me a super strong hug and he kept playing with the toys he brought and the toys at the clinic. He turned his pieces of the game of Chinese checkers into dental cavities that invaded the teeth of the plasticine man of the clinic and he eliminated them completely. When we finished working with his sister he jumped and said: "Now it's my turn!", We explained that today he had no appointment, but we could play for a while.
I told the mother that Juan Lucas had very nice feelings and we started our conversation:
Mom of Juan Lucas: "Yes, Juan Lucas has some super cute feelings and he is also very expressive."
Dani: "Of course, in the drawing he gave me today, he drew a heart after his name."
Mum of Juan Lucas: "He is always that special. The other day he told me he wanted to be president, that he had what it takes. "
Dani: "Really? And what is needed? "
Mom of Juan Lucas: "Yes. He told me the following: 1) I am a good boy 2) I manage to concentrate at school 3) You have to have a good heart 4) Hard thoughts 5) Help friends and other people when they need help 6) Say cute words 7) Good eyes 8) Good lungs. "
At that time I was cold. How is it possible for a child of 7 years to have things clearer than we are? Clearly to be president is important to be a good person with a good heart but at the same time have clear objectives and goals; that he has knowledge and manages to concentrate on what he does; Do not lose the social part and help the needy; who knows how to speak in public; that has a vision for the future and above all that has good lungs to be known, to respect and be an example for the people.
I have no clearer and more accurate words than those of Juan Lucas. Let's not lose the north, let's always have a goal in mind, achieve goals and dream. Life we only have one.
