I am asked from time to time how can you make money when you aren't acting or what kind of job can I get?

Each person is different... for some it might be working at a restaurant.. another might be working as a contractor... others might be network marketing.... and maybe sales is for you. Just remember anything you do has to be flexible. If it is a job the ability to swap shifts easily is required.

For some people, being an entrepreneur is the key. So if you take network marketing as an example you can work your own hours building a business. Will it take effort yes it will. I have been in a few as well. The key is finding a good network marketing company that has not only a good product and compensation plan but, also a good training. Once you have a good mentor you will grow as a person. As a friend use to tell me... This is a personal development program with a compensation plan attached. When you have a good foundation with Personal Development your acting will also improve. Even if your not an actor the best part is Personal Development.

If you choose to be in sales... pick a product you like. If you are comfortable selling cars and you have the skills to do it then do just that! Just make sure you can take off to follow your passion as an actor. If you are good at selling insurance... then do just that. The funny thing about sales... everyone is a sales person and just does not realize they are selling. When you recommend a product you are actually selling the product you like!

You might be the type that has the more traditional type of jobs like working at a theater or working at a restaurant. Make sure you let management know you are an actor. Then also build relationships with your fellow staff so you can call them and swap a shift. If that is a possibility.. then that is great. If not then you might need to look at something different!

In all cases, you want to make sure you can do the job you are hired to do... but also, you need to make sure you can still follow your passion. I know there are other flexible jobs out there. You can do them! Plus, follow your acting passion.

Until next week Happy acting!
