If you have been in this business or just simply applying for a job you seem to expect a call back or an e-mail saying you received the part or sorry it went to someone else. As an actor you will face a no notification a majority of the time. Sometimes you are on a hold until a final decision. Other times you go for a callback. There may also be times when you are notified the project took a different direction so your part was eliminated.
Is this some for of rejection? Absolutely not! If you were not chosen it could be they did not like your look... it reminded them of their ex. It maybe the color of your shirt / blouse. It could be your voice reminds you of their mother. In other, words it could be absolutely nothing at all! The key is not to accept this as a rejection! You did your best... you were awesome! Learn and grow from the experience. So you have a callback... make sure and wear exactly the same thing as before. If you change you might trigger something that would results in an unfavorable response.
Now, don't be surprised if your call back occurs months later! I was called back for a role 3 months later. I have also been cast from a previous audition that I submitted. So you never know what is in your future. Stay positive! Appreciate the crew you work with... it may lead to future work.
The point I want to make is that this is a business based on a judgement call by a casting director. They have a lot of work in viewing all of the candidates for a role. So they are busy... they don't always have the time for the pleasantries of notifying you if you were not selected. Sometimes they don't even know why!
In closing, if you are being requested to complete an audition by the same Casting Director over and over. That is a good thing... they like you and are looking for a role for you. So don't worry... be happy!
