No one is perfect and no one is always right. We all make mistakes every now and then, may it be at work, school, home, in relationship, and the like. In reality, making mistakes is not the real issue but it is the fact that we all not ready or courageous enough to humble ourselves in accepting our own fault wholeheartedly.
More often than not, we find ways to get away with the situation where we are needed to prove ourselves that we are really right. We deny even if something is undeniable. We reason out even if our reason is incomprehensible. We blame others thinking that it was them who caused all the trouble or the problem. We raise our voice in an argument or discussion to them to show authority and to silence them hoping that we can free ourselves from the reality that we really made a mistake.
This has been a common scenario when we have an inflated ego. We do not want to be put in a situation where we embarrass ourselves for making mistakes, so we point others. We can never accept the fact that we are wrong. We perceived that admitting our own mistakes is a sign of weakness, stupidity, dumbness, and all the negative connotations we can think of.
But isn’t it swallowing our pride makes us dignified?
Let us look around, we always admire people who can humble themselves by admitting the mistakes that they have created and taken responsibility of the fault that they have done. We do like that kind of person as we think of them as valuable. They are likeable as they take the courage to own their mistakes without being so concerned about ego.
It takes so much courage to accept the fact that we are wrong but it is the best thing we all can do in bettering ourselves. Nothing is much more respectable than a person who takes responsibility of the mistakes he has made and being able to humble oneself by admitting the wrong and asking for an apology. For sure we all want to be respected and valued so humbling oneself and setting aside our ego is just so right.
Let us all man up and swallow our pride.
