We are going to test something this week and see how everyone likes it. We are drastically raising the max reputation level and instead focusing on the post rewards. As of now this will be for this week only, but I want you to also tell us what you think of the changes as you make your entry.
One other change is based on the idea that this contest is to help increase engagement and increase rewards of undervalued content so you need to leave a comment on the posts you feature. You also need to upvote the posts...if the post is good enough to feature it should be worthy of your upvote. Most everyone does this, but it's not mandatory for a qualified entry. If anyone is running into RC issues which makes these extra comments and votes impossible please let me (@thedarkhorse) know and I'll see if there is anything that can be done.

The Pay It Forward Curation Contest is all about increasing exposure for undervalued high quality posts and increase the level of engagement on steemit. You can take part by entering the contest or just helping visit the entries and their featured posts. How to Enter the Pay It Forward Curation Contest?
To enter the Curation Contest you will find 2 high quality blog posts written by reputation level 55 or lower steemians and then write a curation style blog post like this entry by @viking-ventures from week 16 which won a Judges Choice Award. The idea is to highlight both posts and why you thought they were high quality.

No less then 200 words of original written content. So a single photo is fine as long as there is 200 words with it. 200 words is about 12 lines of content.
** Art posts that show at least 3 steps of progression will not need to have 200 words of content, but still attempt to explain their art. Please use some common sense here.

As for the change: I am glad to see a lift to reputation of 65 because it is easier to find higher quality posts to curate -- it gives a larger pool to look at. I also think that a post threshold below $1.00 is good, and commenting makes sense. HOWEVER, the upvote requirement is a little questionable... remember how many of us are dust voters? Unlike Facebook, social proof is not the business on Steemit (although there is the "trending" element)!

All those dust votes add up and they count as long as the total vote breaks the dust threshold.
The way I see it (and I'm open to hearing all opinions on this) is that no matter how large or small your vote is when you see good content it's when you should cast a vote. If the content is good enough that someone feels it's "undervalued" and deserves more rewards (the point of the contest) why wouldn't you want to help give those rewards? It's 2 votes out of at least 70 you get in a week. Will see if other have an issue with the upvote, but do know the judges have questioned why people don't vote many times.

... understood, but I would put this in "the thought that counts." As a longer term Steemian, I do take note of those who actually vote (arguably the primary purpose of the Steem blockchain!) vs. those who don't bother.

Have fun guys. Let's see what we can do this week. I will be on vacation/holiday this week. Headed to Philadelphia for my daughters graduation. She is graduating with her Masters' Degree in Medical Lab Sciences. I promise to share details when I get home. We are going sightseeing. It's Philly how can you not? The last time I was there I was 12 yrs old. Went on a school trip (without our parents OMG) with a couple of chaperones and did a full historical tour of Philly, Washington DC and Harpers Ferry. So I should have some good posting material.

Thanks for your feedback and it seems like everyone that has voiced their opinions agrees.
We have noticed to many newer people that got a huge boost for their reputation score due to a great intro post or picking up a curie vote that blow past level 55, but still only make maybe 20c a post. So this said we have found that the reputation score just doesn't mean a whole lot in terms of great content that is undervalued.
