Payless is scaling down operations. As the company takes the last steps to fend off bankruptcy, the end appears near.
The company is most likely going to file for bankruptcy. In preparation of that, they are closing stores along with their online operations.
Stores will remain open at least until the end of March with some starting in tact until the end of May.
The total will be roughly 2,100 stores. Payless, which started in 1956, has 2,700 North American stores.

Wow. This was a huge shock!
JCPenney, Sears, found a way to stay 'afloat' and avoid shuttered doors.
It seems Payless will remain in business outside the U.S. Sadly, I think this has something to do with the current POTUS' mega-taxing businesses that build/produce abroad. Most of their items were made overseas.
This shines a different light on the glowing news of a thriving economy.
Peace.
