American Dagger Moth Catapillar - Macrophotography

Check out this fuzzy cute little Dagger Moth catapiller I found about a week ago at the bottom of an oak tree.

I found him precariously stuck in this bit of old spider web here. I think it may have fallen out of the tree. I couldn't just leave it there!

It may have been looking for a place to spin its cocoon when it fell as this kind of catapillar does toward the end of the summer. The catapillars feeds on several types of deciduous trees such as oak, birch, and mapel during its life cycle then spins its cocoon there.

Someday once that fuzzy guy goes through its metamorphosis it will look like this pretty grey moth.

After I saved it from the spider web, it was kind enough to tolerate me taking some photos.

It had things to do and places to go so it kept right on moving through our short macro photo session so after a bit I let it be. :)
