i am unsafelyhotboots. I own no unsafelyhotboots.
I'm 29, I live in Portland, OR and I work in health care. I have an interest in tech and cryptocurrency in particular as it solves much of the problem with financial regulation in a way that monopolized multinational banks + national banks + regulators doesn't quite seem to for the average layperson across the world.
i believe in feminism and that people should be treated as people. I do health care because it helps me, in a small, one by one way, make the world a more just and fair place by helping people suffer less in their body. and although I'm certain my professional skills will continue to retain their value in the age of automation, I want to diversify my professional skillset this year so I'm not so dependent on hourly wage from health care to meet my needs.
in my downtime - aside from reading about cryptocurrency - I am a crafty individual - I made my own bed and desk, and I am currently working on some really basic lighting for the whole space using arduino. In the past, I made my own running sandals, stoves to cook from with soda cans, the most delicious roast you will ever have (secret - use white wine) and many keychains with macrame. I I live with an amazing roommate (who is not on the platform, yet), and lead a pretty introverted life.
so, as stake in the crypto world, I took out my 1 year of retirement savings + interest at a 50% penalty to buy some BTC. Although DASH is the hot shit right now (78$ A COIN?!) I don't buy that it'll last with the market being so heavily controlled by so few players at the moment. I could be wrong, as people are discovering DASH does everything Bitcoin does but potentially instantly, and with even more security. I plan on keeping a diverse portfolio once the check arrives and I convert it to BTC. etherum has potential to reorder our society, so having a stake in that is important.
this is the odd thing to think about with cryptocurrency: they all do different things. Bitcoin is like 'digital land' almost - able to be sold relatively quickly, depending on how eager you are to sell and how the market is feeling that day but it fails in the real world with everyday transactions because of the confirmation time between blocks (so no point of sale that I've seen not mediated by a third party holding bitcoins). Etherum is a codified replacement for all the contract type things in your life, from investments and futures betting type things to employment contracts, subscriptions, and many many more things. I am not sure this incarnation of a codified contract language within blockchains is going to be the winning one - I watched the DAO almost succeed and then fail. miserably. the community learned from that, I'm seeing, and I see lots of amazing promising things emerging on the platform
and DASH is digital cash, as advertised. instant transactions. do you want to deal with the monopoly to get that? I bet that in the end, DASH might beat out bitcoin, but I dunno ...
so keep a diverse portfolio when dealing with assets, and have fun investing!
