Since all of us have parents in one way or another, meaning that we are part of a family, I guess most of us will strongly agree with this. What do I mean?
Have you ever been arguing with someone? Have you been in a real fight, making the atmosphere feel like puke? If you have, then you probably know that even though the most beautiful steak would be taken to the table, you wouldn't be able to enjoy it, simply because of the atmosphere. In fact, it would be better to just eat a carrot in peace, than to have a fantastic steak and a bad mood.
So, what is there to learn from this proverb?
Strive for peace...
I guess my goal is to strive for peace, and for living in peace with the people around me. It can be a mess and tough at times, but sometimes you just have to walk the high road and, on purpose, not start a fight, and sometimes take the blame, even though you feel like the other is to blame.
Jesus told us to bring peace with us and to long for peace, so that is my encouragement today to all of us!
