Beneficiary countries and others fear .. Will digital currencies break the strength of the dollar?

While some governments see Bitcoin and other digital currencies as a threat, others are looking for optimal ways to take advantage of its advantages.

It has been more than ten years since the first exchange of Bitcoin, in January 2009, and the value of this most popular cryptocurrency reached the barrier of twenty thousand dollars nearly two years ago, before it retreated from this barrier.

Author Ksenia Semenova says in a report on the US site Stratfor - published a few days ago - that the governments of some countries see digital currencies as a way to save their faltering economies, and she adds that it is useful to examine the geopolitical and institutional uses that are most interesting for these currencies.

The author said that many people face several difficulties in terms of understanding the developments occurring in the digital currency sector, and perhaps the most prominent evidence of misunderstanding is the warning of US Representative Brad Sherman to his colleagues, urging them to "contain Bitcoin in its infancy," indicating that it may be able to disrupt Strongly the US dollar.

The writer added that the US Representative made it clear that enabling countries such as Iran to use these currencies would make them bypass US sanctions, disrupt Washington’s foreign policy, and undermine the importance of global sovereign currencies.

The author pointed out that the opinion of US Representative Brad Sherman reflects the opinion of the US administration in general.

On the other hand, the response of the cryptocurrency community came quickly, saying that the world is moving towards a space in which the status of sovereign currencies is declining in favor of virtual currencies.

The blogger emphasized that governments can issue central laws that prohibit the circulation of these currencies, but the enforcement of these laws will be impossible, according to the author's report.
