Should we believe that peace is possible?

Junior Chamber International (JCI) Zagreb organized an action entitled 'Zagreb-Search 4 Peace'. The event was held on the several locations in town with one goal - promoting global JCI campaign 'Peace Is Possible'.

In a world full of violence, fear of terrorism and injustice for many people, the idea of peace is a far-reaching vision. JCI Zagreb is part of an international organization of young active people all over the world who are trying to raise awareness of society on the importance of peace.

Many young people from all over Europe express their emotions and thoughts about the peace and their organization.

'Peace as we say it is not the absence of war or similar conditions. For me the peace is harmony, we are the harmony, and what is more, harmony is peace in the heart and peace in thought' - said Martin from Poland.

Though peace for everyone has a different meaning, that does not mean that we should not strive for it.

But although many young people still think peace is possible, unfortunately, world leaders do not want to hear their messages.

Is it possible that in the 21st century we still have to be afraid of a situation where one human kills another, just because that one is not the same as he is, just because he comes from a different country, speaks a different language or believes in something else? Is it possible that now more than ever we have to be afraid for our children and future generations not just because we are destroying our planet but because we can destroy the living trace on earth with one bad decision?
Why do we have to have weapons? Nuclear weapons?!!!
I know that I might sound like a really naive person but can someone rational and smarter than me please answer my question.

Until then every day when I see a child that gets killed I will keep asking. And I will shout out loud - it's not the world I want to live in.
