My Dive into the World of Peerplays

This afternoon I read the Peerplays whitepaper and began learning about this up and coming decentralized, provably fair gaming platform. WOW! Thanks @matt-a for recommending I check this out! Below is a quick summary of what I learned.

Overview

The online gambling world has gone crazy and people are getting screwed by CENTRALIZED exchanges via:

  • Accounts gone missing
  • Unfair odds
  • Websites shutting down (for legal or mysterious reasons)

Peerplays is a provably fair gaming/gambling platform built on the BEST DECENTRALIZED technology availible... the Graphene blockchain. Peerplays is:

  • Easily auditable
  • Built on Graphene allowing for 100,000 transactions per second (only a little faster than Bitcoin... JK WAY faster!!!!)
  • Fair (code is open source so ask your resident nerd and he'll make sure you aren't being cheated)

How it Works

Peerplays gaming platform is an incredibly simple concept:

  • Person A opens an "order" to play Game A (via initializing a smart contract)
  • Person B opens an "order" to play Game A (via initializing a smart contract)
  • Person A is matched with Person B
  • Person A and Person B play Game A (rules are defined by the smart contracts)
  • Person A wins and funds are distributed via rules of the smart contract.

Fee Allocation: HOW COOL!

Arguable one of the coolest parts of the platform is how the fee's are allocated. The small fee's that are subtracted from every transaction (minimal compared to Bitcoin) are split three ways:

  1. To Peerplays Core Token Holders
  2. Maintenance
  3. A MEGA-JACKPOT!!!!

IMHO a smart way to allocate the TX fee's... they aren't just going into some rich bastards back-pocket.

Where is Peerplays at Today?

Just last month the blockchain launched. The first game is scheduled to launch in August of this year!

What can YOU do now?

  1. Send me some PPY because I don't know where to obtain these tokens :)
  2. Vote for your favorite witnesses. Many of your favorite Steem witnesses are also Peerplays witnesses... @good-karma, @theprophet0, @furion, just to name a few
  3. Develop games for Peerplays
  4. Read the Whitepaper

Conclusion

I am very excited for Peerplays to take off! For those of you who joined Steemit kind of late, here is an opportunity to get ahead of the game with a fun Graphene project. If you have any thoughts, concerns, or words of wisdom, please share below. Cheers and Steem on!

I bought a few tokens during the ICO but wish I invested 10x more. Love this technology.

I've been super cautious about investing in any ICO's. But, recently it seems like every crypto I start looking into with a serious interest was an ICO not too long ago... the regrets are real!

However, Monday will mark a new beginning. Planning on investing some into EOS. Although it's illegal in the USA???

I recommend waiting on EOS just a bit. If you'd like you can hang out in one of our chats, we will be watching it closely and making decisions. The structure is very wild.

Also yeah the no-USA people thing is weird, but I'm sure that it is them just covering their asses legally. They're doing some extremely revolutionary shit.

Alright awesome, the Telegram?

Sounds good, because of the weird structure (and small amount of ETH I own) I was unsure of the best day to invest.

Amen to that, man. I snatched some up, but in hindsight, I'm kicking myself for not sinking my life's savings into it haha.

Vote for my Peerplays witness: "firecrab-witness" :)

You are right @robertdurst10. Peerplay is going to change online betting industry. Trillions are generated by bookmarkers world wide, I am on peerplay already and I am looking forward to their launch as online betting is really hot here in Nigeria.

That's awesome! Yeah I've done some sketchy (and unsuccessful) Bitcoin gambling and I cannot wait for a more trustworthy platform.

So glad you're diving into this, Robert! Very lucrative future with it but tread lightly and with caution due to the grey area nature of it. Although it is NOT regulated or technically illegal, that doesn't mean the man will see it that way, sadly.

This is an awesome write up! Gonna throw a 100% vote your way for it. I can tell you really did some research and effort I to this. Great job! You deserve it. Resteemed as well to get you more exposure. People will certainly find this information useful.

EDIT: w00t! When I resteemed and upvoted this, it was $6! Now it's $208!!! Bad ass!

👍👍

Wow thanks so much @matt-a!!! You're so kind!

While I still am continuing with my own project... which has been progressing slowly lately because I'm taking a required summer class (finally done with it this week!), I am going to definitely redirect more energy into Peerplays. The concept behind it is so simple yet has so much potential. Once I learned how it worked, my mind began racing with possibilities and now is the time to get involved -- while the community is still young and forming.

Really need more hours in the day :)

Cheers mate!

Very good information, my friend.

Thanks mate!

Interesting information - graphene is present, it is necessary to read more. Thank you!

You are welcome!

Very good!

Thanks!

Thanks to @nepd I found your post (and now following you) - but between the two of you I'm getting the urgent need to read the whitepapers and get in on the action. I'd hate to miss a good opportunity. :)

I saw this one the other day. I don't know anything about gambling, but this looks like it could be really popular. The fast transfer times look really attractive too. The first time I bought bitcoin I didn't realize how long it took for them to deposit. I was having an anxiety attack wondering where the hell my coins were. haha I'm assuming gambling is just like the marijuana industry in that most major payment processors don't want to touch them, so cryptocurrency is a great option for them.

you are right
Peerplays will change the whole field of online working

The idea may be cool, but there will be plenty of shoe that will play instead of players. What about these people?
