God is perfect: For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him

The Psalm 103 is a hymn of praise to the Lord, this Psalm teaches us that God is perfect, eternal, and omnipotent. God throughout the plan of salvation, from Adam to our Lord Jesus, and to this day through the spiritual gifts in the church, showed us these divine attributes with great force.
God is the wisest being, and because of his wisdom the Lord loves his creatures with goodness, and this love of God is not based on the desire to possess what is loved, but on transmitting and radiating his perfections to the creatures, and for that God calls us his friends, and his children. That's how beautiful is the love and the mercy (compassion, kindness) of the Lord.
Let us praise God for his attributes, the Psalm tells us, because God is not imperfect like human beings, the Lord is not prone to anger or revenge but to unconditional forgiveness, this is how the psalm expresses this mystical teaching:
"The LORD is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
He will not always accuse,
nor will he harbor his anger forever;
he does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities" Psalm 103:8-10.
And the Psalm also tells us something very special, which is constantly repeated as a requirement that cannot be forgotten, men must fear the Lord with all their hearts; because just as in nature each animal looks for its similar, God looks insistently, and especially, for those that resemble him:
"For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us" Psalm 103:11-12.
God tells us the Psalm, protects and blesses those who fear him, as happened with the characters of Job and Tobit in their respective books, because God knows us:
"As a father has compassion on his children,
so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;
for he knows how we are formed,
he remembers that we are dust" Psalm 103:13-14.
God is perfect. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him.jpg
