The hidden value of land, your instinct can detect. Mycelium moves and trades nutrients, sends messages and extends the root zones of all plants.

The hidden value of our land

I am so happy we bought the land we bought about 2 years ago. Even though living there is far away in the far far future, our guts felt the right thing. It was untouched for decades before we inquired the sellers. All that time nature was able to do her thing uninterrupted and build lots of top soil with a thick layer of mulch.
When you slip your hand into the mulch already after a few centimeters a fine, dense, white web is revealed. It's a mycelium web, crunching up the mulch and most likely connecting the whole assembly of plant species that grow on the property with all the plants of the surrounding. It moves and trades nutrients, sends messages and extends the root zones of all plants. It's the most valuable synergetic element we have. And its because of that very mycelium web that I trust our soil. There must be a lot of knowlege stored in the ground. Check out these images of millions of filaments:

A beautiful thing! Mushrooms are fascinating ^_^ Your land looks gorgeous!

Thank you @wisewoof! It is gorgeous. So gorgeous, that it took me a year until I had the guts to move things... I was afraight to hurt the land. Until today I have the feeling I hurt it with the earthworks I did there in Oktober... It needs a bit of healing time again, but I am alsways asking the big pine for forgiveness and ashure it, that I will only do good.

Your respect for the land is touching, I'm sure it will reward you greatly for the care you've bestowed. :)

I love that you are speaking and listening to your land <3
It is a reminder to us all to show our respect for what she has done for us. Thank you, really informative post @my-permaculture. Mushrooms and their underground network are something else!

Happy that I could inspire you @karenfoster!

Yes. Paul Stamets also talks about the giant Armillaria mycelum. This whole topic is so fascinating!

Natures internet!! Great pictures @my-permaculture!👍!

In deed. Wasn't it even called the WoodWideWeb?

Imagine that mycelium networks might be as conscious as us

Hi @nikolai. Imagine they are way more concious than us.... They where around millions of years before us and they are a looooot lager than us. We might even be an offspring of them, as we share more DNA with them than with plants. Did you know about the mushroom 'tree of life' hypothesis...
