I'm giving up on numbering the episodes. Think I'm on number 5, but I've lost track, and there's gonna be 52 of these things, so... Yeah. No more numbers.
Also, moving to the #permacultureplayingcards tag so these can be more easily accessible.
Y'all don't forget the CONTESTS built into this series. One SBI for a name, five for the needle! That makes thirty one shares for the series if someone claims the prize before the post pays out.
On to today's featured permaculture tidbit!
Microorganisms!
Ah, something we can all appreciate! The little critters in our soil. The little critters everywhere! These things, as we learn and understand more daily, are the base of all life on Earth. If we killed all the bugs, there'd be no hope for sustainable life here.
For learning on soil microbiology, I can't recommend Dr. Elaine Ingham higher. Her life work has been spent studying all these little things in our soil, which are tied to the little things in our gut, which we learn is the root cause of nearly all modern chronic illnesses.
For learning about these things, I recommend Dr. Ingham's episode with Diego Footer on Permaculture Voices Podcast, episode 96. If you'll pair all you hear in that episode, with any the information on gut health in the Wise Traditions podcast, it's easy to see that compost can literally heal the world.
Microorganisms are key. What can you do to support a healthier earth with microorganisms? If you maybe don't have room for a giant compost pile, are there alternative options? What could you do about this within your community? Things to think about. If we're really concerned about the rise of mental health issues like autism and bipolar disorder that have been linked to gut health disorders, why aren't we doing anything to help?
Let's heal our soil and heal ourselves. Do what you can.
Be blessed.
Be fruitful.
Stay relevant.
Nate.
