However there are also some rules of thumbs that should help when deciding plants that will grow in the shady areas:
- Think green. Leafy vegetables like kale and lettuce, chard.
- No fruits. There is not enough sun for them. Fruits need many hours of sun.
- Take care of your soil. Add compost or manure or organic fertilizer to shady areas. If there deprived of sun make sure there not deprived of nutrients too.
