Wine Review: Dan Armor Cidre Poire (Pear Cider)

My friend and I were picking up the popular $2 for 4 veggie burgers in a large quantity for our fraternal order's annual BBQ and were scouring the store for inexpensive beer when we came upon this unusual drink. Dan Armor Cidre Poire is the first time that I saw a hard perry, or pear cider. It's made from fermented pear juice. I usually go to a store like Western Beef, but they don't have as much of a wine selection.

This is the veggie burger in question if your fraternity is having a cookout and you want a more affordable option.

Dan Armor perry is made in Brittany, France. Armor is one section of Brittany. Apparently Argoad is the other area. At least that's why my friend says. It was quite expensive because the whole bottle was 5 dollars but we fed 6 people on it. This is because we were drinking out of Dixie cups instead of traditional red plastic cups.

It tasted like biting into a pear. Some ciders don't have that fresh apple taste but this one did. I could barely taste the alcohol which is good for a lot of the drinkers at the table who were underage. It tasted much better than the Charles Shaw rose wine and Natty Daddy beer that we had served at the beginning of the meal inside the fast food restaurant.

I would definitely recommend getting this perry if you are interested in a pear flavored alcoholic drink. You can even serve it with pear.
