Jesus begins his teachings with the Sermon on the Mount and with the beatitudes he explains that the Kingdom of Heaven suffers persecution: "How blessed are you whenever people hate you, avoid you, insult you, and slander you because of the Son of Man!" Luke 6:22.
Many people only want to hear lies, gossip about others, and half-truths, in this situation it is logical that those who seek God's truth and wisdom suffer rejection, living in the grace of God means not living in fear but in hope, and doing good without expecting evil:
"Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. ´Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened. But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord." 1 Peter 3:13-15.
Righteousness and mercy (compassion, gentleness) are the ways of Christ, and every Christian must walk them, but not for a personal gain but for the good itself. But this truth is nonsense for the natural man who lives according to the desires of the world, so being a Christian means knowing how to deal with the problem of persecution of fools who are often in the spheres of earthly power. Even today, in many countries of the world, Christians have serious problems because of their religion.
The Christian in the face of the difficulties of the world must be willing to give explanations of his faith and hope, as the apostle Peter explains to us:
"Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. For it is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil" 1 Peter 3:15-17.
