    So, "in the mean time" is used to denote the time between when you state the coming of a future event and the present. This means that you only need one slight change to your example. Instead of "now", you can say something like "I am going to wash clothes in an hour. In the mean time, can you please help me do the dishes?" . Does this make sense?
