They both use the same alphabet (only Persian has 4 extra letters) and they have a high percentage of common vocabulary, but from the grammatical point of view, they are radically different. Something like English and French, but then these two languages are much more closely related than Persian and Arabic.

Yes to some extent, but only the words. On the other hand, Arabic is regularly taught in school from the 6th to the 12th grade. So, everyone knows a bit of Arabic. What about Indonesia? Is Arabic taught in school there, too?

yes, in indonesian arabic language taught in madrasah or religious school of islam is not taught in public school, i used to go to school of religion religion so i understand a little bit with arabic language, i just know now from you if arab and persian are not same , I think the people of the middle east all used Arabic language
