The Lost Horizon is about a group of 4 government employed travelers who's plane gets hijacked by a monk who takes them to an uncharted Himalayan community called Shangri-la.

Once there, they realize that there's something different and Conway, the main character, embraces the experience while one of his fellow passengers, Mallinson finds it absurd that the community members and leaders have no sense of urgency regarding their release, making him feel like a prisoner.

What does this have to do with personal development? Sometimes things change and the people closest to you are the ones that tend to make you feel bad about inevitable changes and their perception of control over you.

How does this help you? Watch out for people who adamantly try to get you to go back to your old self once you've experienced a personal catharsis. They have their own agenda for your usefulness and that's all there is to it.

People who don't appreciate you being happy and having a purpose are NOT here for you, they're there for themselves.

So stick with what you know, trust your gut and continue on your journey. It's worth it!
